Any and all money (or trade in) that you use as a "down payment" or cap cost reduction will be lost if your vehicle is totalled or stolen. GAP insurance will not reimburse you for your down payment! You will only get back any equity, which rarely happens!

In New Jersey you are entitled (by law) to review a completed lease agreement for one business day before signing it. You do not have to sign at the dealer!

In New Jersey it is illegal to directly charge you sales tax or to quote you a price without sales tax.

 

 

I can't lease a car, I drive 35,000 miles per year and a lease only allows 12,000 miles per year. Right?

Wrong! Most advertised lease payments include only 12,00 miles. However, it is much cheaper to build all of your anticipated mileage into the lease terms.


Is it easier to lease than buy with a bank loan if my credit is bad or if I have no money to put down?

No, just the opposite. Leasing requires stronger credit than a conventional auto loan simply because in a typical lease there is no equity in the vehicle, making you a higher risk for the leasing company. People that lease, do so because of the benefits, not because they can't afford to buy.


Isn't leasing just for business use?

No. Years ago, primarily businesses leased because of tax advantages. Now, with the changes in tax laws, many individuals enjoy the benefits of lower monthly payments, no down payment and the pure convenience of the transaction.


Is the insurance more expensive?

No. For the same amount of coverage there are no additional charges just because you leased.


Aren't Independent Leasing Companies more expensive than new car dealerships?

Independent Leasing Companies (like Book Auto Leasing, Inc.) in many cases are less expensive. Why? Because we often receive rebates and incentives that the new car dealer cannot. We may also have programs available to us that are not available to new car dealers.
